Dunk Shot — Phaser 3 basketball game
How it inspired me

I’m studying how a compact touch-first game turns one action — aiming and releasing a ball — into a loop that stays readable and satisfying as difficulty rises. The project is a useful reference for making the portfolio game feel like a complete arcade experience rather than a decorative interaction.

What I’m taking from it

  • Use a visible trajectory preview so players understand a shot before committing.
  • Move the target and introduce one obstacle at a time to increase difficulty without making the rules opaque.
  • Reward consecutive baskets with escalating score, sound, popups, and unlockable effects so accuracy develops a rhythm.
  • Keep endless play and explicit challenge modes separate so one core mechanic supports different kinds of mastery.
